Definition:
Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder. Although it is difficult to heal, it is not infectious and does not involve any internal organs.
Causes:
- In most cases, it is idiopathic (specific causative factor cannot be detected).
- Irregular diet Allergy to specific foods or medicines.
- Heredity, in some cases.
- Stress.
Symptoms:
- Redness in affected area of the skin, with little or no inflammation, that is associated with itching.
- Dry scaly skin.
Do's & Don’t:
- Meals should contain green grams, horse grams, embolic myrobalan, bitter gourd, drumstick, etc., as these are easy to digest.
- Avoid pungent, spicy, very sour and salty foods, yogurt and fish.
- Maintain personal hygiene.
Suggestions:
Powdered purified corals (Rasamanikya) and animal horn (Mrigashrunga) in a 250-mg dosage, thrice, daily. A decoction of Rubia cordifolia (Manjishtha) in a 30-ml dosage, twice, daily. Powdered leaves, bark, roots, fruits and flowers of Margosa (Neem), Acasia catechu (Khadir), chebulic myrobalan, embelic myrobalan, ginger and black pepper, in a 1-2-gm dosage, daily, for 2-4 months. Three powdered myrobalans, long pepper and seeds of Embelia ribes (Vidanga), in a 1-gm dosage, daily, with a pinch of honey. Patients of chronic dermatoses should bathe with a warm infusion of three myrobalans and leaves of Margosa (Neem).
Herbs Can Be Used :
Local application of olive oil with Epsom salts bath.
