Definition:
Prostate enlargement refers to the enlargement of the prostate gland that is situated on both sides of the urethra. It is present only in males and plays a major role in the male reproductive system.
Causes:
Advanced age (most common in the +60 age group). Any tumor or abnormal growth in the prostate.
Symptoms:
- Difficulty in passing urine, along with pain.
- Dribbling of urine or increased frequency of urination.
- A feeling of incomplete emptying of the urinary bladder.
Do's & Don’t:
- Include meats and lentils soups, milk, yogurt, cucumber, dates, coconut and watermelon in regular diet.
- Avoid foods that are difficult to digest.
- Increase water intake to ease bladder movement. Include moderate quantities of pure ghee and oils in regular diet.
Suggestions:
- A decoction of roots of ten herbs (Dashamoola) in a 30 ml dosage, thrice, daily.
- A decoction of fruits of punctured vine (Gokshur) in a 30-40-ml dosage, thrice, daily.
- A decoction of Adhatoda vasaka (Adulsa) with Shilajit in a 30-ml dosage, thrice, daily.
Herbs Can Be Used :
A paste of pumpkin seeds with honey, in a 3-5-gm dosage, thrice, daily.
